ConnecTra Artist Series: Megan Dewar & Dannielle Hayes (Re-run)

September 20 All day

Tuesdays are for ConnecTogether Replays! This week, watch the recording from a past ConnecTra Artist Series sponsored by Kickstart Disability Arts and Culture with Megan Dewar and Dannielle Hayes. This series provided an opportunity to hear directly from artists living with physical disabilities on how they found ways to express themselves and what art means to them.

Megan Dewar is a disabled settler on Lekwungen territory. The pieces Megan will be displaying mosaics; they tell the story of meeting herself at the intersection of disability and art. Through this medium, Megan is expressing how disability does not need to be ‘fixed’. “We are all inherently whole, valuable, and beautiful”.
After years as an international photographer, Dannielle Hayes career came to a crashing halt with a stroke in 2010. However, she continues to write and shoot photos albeit with her iPhone camera. “I have always pushed the photographic envelope artistically and will be showing some old and new images exploring some of these steps. Now I enjoy the ease and spontaneity of capturing that much smaller world.”

Please note that this live Zoom event was recorded and streamed to Facebook and YouTube, where it will remain available for our community to enjoy. Closed captioning for this event is available on these platforms.
