March of Dimes “Skilling Up” Program

March of Dimes Canada is a leading national charity committed to championing equity, empowering ability, and creating real change that will help the more than six million people living with disabilities across the country unlock the richness of their lives.

In this presentation, you will learn about Skilling Up, which is an innovative workplace training project designed to increase skill gains of employees in the manufacturing sector through Workplace Essential Skills training. Tune in on March 6th from 12 PM – 1 PM for a snapshot of the different learning pathways, mentorship opportunities and job readiness activities presented by Lisa Persaud.

Lisa Persaud is a Team Leader in Employment Services at the March of Dimes Canada. Lisa started her career in Employment Services 5 years ago, working as a Program Assistant for the Canadian Veterans Vocational Rehabilitation Program at MODC. She then became a Job Developer, and Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist who assisted Veterans with their career transitions from the military to the civilian labour market. Lisa now helps manage the operations of SkillingUp, which is a digital skills training and workforce development program that aims to provide Canadians with disabilities free access to the education, and career development that they need to become competitively employed in today’s digital economy.

Lisa Livingston is a Regional Employment Services Manager with March of Dimes Canada. As a Registered Rehabilitation Professional with the Vocational Rehabilitation Association, Certified Vocational Professional with the College of Vocational Rehabilitation Professionals and having previously worked as a Registered Kinesiologist she has over 20 years of experience working with people with disabilities. She has specialized in vocational rehabilitation working with March of Dimes Canada for the past 18 years. Lisa holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Honors Kinesiology from the University of Waterloo as well as a Certificate in Disability Management from Mohawk College.
