Retrophiliac: Designing with Accessibility in Mind

Join Retrophiliac on May 12 from 12-1 pm to learn about their brand and designing with accessibility in mind. Retrophiliac is a brand that designs disability pride, accessibility-focused, and LGBTQIA2+ merchandise.

This presentation will explore the importance of disability representation in design and designing with accessibility in mind. It will also discuss how Retrophiliac creates inclusive and meaningful products and the impact of supporting disabled-owned businesses. Margaux Wosk, the creator behind Retrophiliac, will share their journey as a self-employed disabled artist and entrepreneur.

Margaux Wosk is a neurodivergent, Autistic and disabled artist based in Canada. They are also the founder of Retrophiliac. Their work raises awareness and fosters inclusion through enamel pins, stickers, patches, and more. Margaux is passionate about self-employment as a means of accessibility. They actively advocate for disabled entrepreneurs and has been featured in various media outlets for their advocacy efforts.

Participation in any of the aforementioned organizations is subject to the observance of the Disability Foundation and affiliated societies' rules and procedures. Staff, volunteers, and clients are part of a team and expected to conduct themselves in a respectful manner. This means that physical harm, verbal or written abuse, harassment of any kind, and any bullying behaviour will not be tolerated. Anyone found to have committed conduct prohibited by the societies is subject to disciplinary actions as deemed fit by the Executive Director, up to and including removal from the programs.
