Tuesdays are for our Creative Writing classes! Join us and author Emily Gillespie on Tuesdays from 4 – 5 PM PT!

Emily will host weekly creative writing classes with short lessons, followed by writing prompts to get your pen or keyboard moving. This class suits new and emerging writers and anyone who wants to get creative with us.

Topics covered include writing memoirs, creative non-fiction, poetry, short stories, character development, dialogue, editing, and more. There will be opportunities to share and get positive feedback and writing support.

Emily Gillespie (she/they) is a mad and autistic author, disability activist, and professional daydreamer. Gillespie has a BA in Gender Equality and Social Justice, an MA in Critical Disability Studies and a certificate in Creative Writing.

Their writing explores themes of memory, identity and mental health journeys. Emily enjoys working in community spaces and examining individual and collective experiences. In her spare time, Emily enjoys reading, walking, dancing, swimming and people-watching in cafes throughout Toronto.

Dancing with Ghosts (Leaping Lion Books, 2017) is her first novel, and she is currently drafting her second grant-funded novel about the failures of the emergency mental health system. She recently finished co-editing an anthology, Mighty: an Anthology of Disabled Superheroes by Renaissance Press, published in fall 2023.
